Ms. Cheryl - Bronx
Hello, my name is Cheryl. Growing up in diverse Brooklyn and being hungry for the world has nurtured my desire to be exposed to a variety of cultures and backgrounds. These interests have inspired my studies of TESOL methodology and youth counseling. From one-on-one tutoring to assisting ESL immigrants, my priority is making each person feel seen and inspired. The youth we assist often feel like just another number in the system, but tutoring gives them a chance to be an individual. Once they see that their personal successes really do matter, they are inspired to work harder. Working with our amazing team at S4L accomplishes that and helps me give back to the community I came from.
Mr. TJ - Bronx

From being raised in the urban areas of Brooklyn, to my love of travel exposing me to countless cultures, ideologies, languages and even dialects, my past experience continues to aid my fundamental work of teaching. True empathy, understanding and patience are essential building blocks to every and any teacher-student relationship as they need to know we truly care. In fact, with a background of over 10 years teaching and a secular background in education, some would say that makes me the right candidate to motivate youth. However, not only do these actually youth motivate me but the privilege is really mine as I participate in Success4Life's effort to help students as they reach their goals.

Ms. Cynthia - Bronx
The prospect of helping my peers on a wider scale was what drew me to joining City Tutors in my junior year of college. Now as a tutor of over three years I have spent countless hours getting to know students and the reasons they face difficulty in their learning. I have tutored students grades 1-12, of all backgrounds and of many disability statuses, in all subjects, and my goal for each session is the same. I get to know each student and what they are capable of, and do my best so that, by the end, they can leave with a greater understanding of the skills required to find a solution to a certain problem, and a greater confidence in their own abilities to solve these problems on their own. In my years tutoring I have never given up on a student, and, more importantly, have never allowed a student to give up on their potential for success in their education. I am excited to use my growing experience in tutoring in supporting youth of Success4Life.
